She has been working with authors such as Philippa Gregory, Tom Rob Smith, Santa Montefiore, Nicci French, Louise Candlish, Rachel Hore and Ian McGuire. American fiction is also a great love of hers and she feels fortunate to count among the authors whom she works with Pulitzer Prize-finalist Philipp Meyer, Pulitzer Prize-winning Anna Quindlen, Alice Hoffman and Waterstones favourite Joseph Kanon. Non-fiction highlights have been David Grann’s remarkable Killers of the Flower Moon, Sally Field’s memoir In Pieces and, more recently, Ariana Neumann’s immensely moving When Time Stopped and Rupi Kaur’s stirring new poetry collection, home body.

At Simon & Schuster, Rachel leads the Children’s division publishing across all age groups and genres, and takes pride in offering authors and illustrators a nurturing and inspiring creative environment backed up with strong commercial ambition.
She sometimes commissions, mostly middle grade and YA fiction, and acquisitions at S&S include books by Ben Miller, Sophy Henn, Jenny Valentine, Katie & Kevin Tsang and Tracy Deonn. She loves big hooky concepts, narrative voice that leaps from the page, adventurous storylines, and books that leave young readers empowered, hopeful and breathless to line up their next read. Rachel believes that connecting brilliant authors and illustrators with young readers is the best job in the world; she really is living her dream working in publishing.
