You Had Me at Bonjour

A Midlife Memoir of Romance and Reinvention

About The Book

When a long-single love coach goes to Paris to reinvent herself—she discovers that the real plot twist isn’t finding true love, but learning how to make it stay.

On the brink of 40, Dufflyn had a résumé full of almosts: almost love, almost success, almost escape. Armed with a strange inherited “magic” and a deep fear of becoming another forgotten Hollywood story, she does the only thing that makes sense—she gets on a plane to Paris.

And then… she meets Benjamin.

He’s magnetic. He’s French. He’s fresh out of heroin addiction and on parole for carjacking. Naturally, they fall in love. What unfolds is a raw, electric story about desire, delusion, and the risk of choosing love when everything—logic, history, survival—says girl, no. In Paris, Dufflyn discovers that after years of self-work and recovery, love might finally be real… or it might be the most dangerous fantasy yet.

You Had Me At Bonjour is a genre-bending romantic memoir that weaves surreal, whimsical elements into true events—exploring the space where fantasy collapses and intimacy begins. Think: the poetic introspection of White Magic meets the seductive backdrop of Emily in Paris—but with real stakes, real heartbreak, and real transformation. This is a story about longing, self-deception, devotion, and the courage to see clearly—especially when you don’t want to.

It’s funny. It’s devastating. It’s hopeful. And it just might make you believe in love again.
