Live life in the trash lane with this first entry in a hilarious middle grade graphic novel series about a family of sneaky raccoons from graphic novel superstars Stephanie Cooke and Whitney Gardner!
Meet the Bin family, a trio of raccoons in the risky business of dumpster diving for all their needs. With Dusty’s brains, ReRe’s muscle, and Scraps’s gadgets (please don’t tell him he’s almost definitely an opossum), the Binses are determined to leave no garbage bin unturned in their pursuit of the tastiest, most delicious trash they can find.
When the family discovers a new upscale grocery store that’s throwing away their perfectly good food at the end of each day, the Binses hatch a heist so daring it’ll have them rolling in garbage all winter long. But a critter-despising CEO, Jeff Beans, and the high-tech defense system he’s installed means liberating that trash is going to take all the skills the Racc Pack have…and maybe some help from a cat burglar with a mysterious past.
Stephanie Cooke is an award-winning writer of graphic novels such as ParaNorthern, Oh My Gods!, and The Racc Pack series. She’s an avid reader, gamer, movie watcher, and pun connoisseur. She’s based out of the City of Raccoons (aka Toronto, Canada) where she can be found curled up with her very snuggly cat that she happens to be very allergic to.
Whitney Gardner is an author, illustrator, and cartoonist. She started drawing stick figures in second grade and somehow no one’s been able to stop her. If there’s ever a moment when she isn’t drawing, she’s likely to be found rolling twenty-sided dice. Her favorite color is yellow. She is the author of the YA novels You’re Welcome, Universe and Chaotic Good, as well as the creator of Fake Blood and Long Distance and the illustrator for Debbie Levy’s Becoming RBG and Stephanie Cooke’s The Racc Pack series.
Why We Love It
“This book is SO FUN! Stephanie Cooke and Whitney Gardner are a powerhouse duo (and passionate raccoon advocates!) who bring to life a hilariously imaginative world that feels just like your favorite children’s animated series. Chock-full of gags and heart, you’ll want to be part of the Bins family at the story’s end, too!”

"An imaginitive, high-energy heist that serves up laughs while gently introducing young readers to timely topics."
– School Library Journal
"Overall, this middle-grade graphic novel is a swiftly moving adventure with a satisfying conclusion."
"Ecological messaging surrounding food scarcity and community action ring true amid the humorously high-octane antics. Via expressive and vividly saturated cartooning by Gardner (Long Distance)and punchy text by Cooke (the Oh My Gods! series), the creators subtly raise awareness of waste prevention in this Mission Impossible–leaning graphic novel series launch."
