About The Book
Perimenopause does not ask for a written invitation. It arrives without warning and, before you realize what’s happening, starts messing with your metabolism, ransacking your relationships, and sabotaging your sleep and sense of self.
In P is for Perimenopause: The ABCs of a Hormonal Hellscape, each letter pairs irreverent, deeply relatable humor with vivid, emotionally observant illustrations to name a symptom, behavior, or cultural absurdity with striking specificity. From brain fog and baffling body changes to late-night overthinking and quiet, simmering rage, the book reflects the experience in a way that seems both ridiculous and unmistakably familiar.
Structured as an escalating, alliterative alphabet, the book builds from early confusion to full-system overload, expanding beyond the A–Z with a brutally honest glossary, a full-body diagram of everything that seems to be going wrong, all-night search histories, and survival-kit essentials.
This is a book to be read aloud, laughed over, and passed among friends. It names the chaos, the rage, the weirdness, and the quiet panic with honesty and humor, giving women a way to feel seen and a little less alone.
About The Illustrator
Holley Maher is an artist in the broadest sense: an illustrator, graphic designer, and editorial art director, as well as a songwriter, recording artist, and multi-instrumentalist. Holley’s illustration career began with her stationery line, Wink Wink Paper Co., and soon she was invited to illustrate her first children’s book series, Little Kid, Big City—a milestone she’d dreamed of since her own childhood (which was quite a while ago now). Holley and her partner, Joe Clemons, reside in Nashville, TN, and are the minds behind The New Athenian, an altruistic creative agency. Together, they publish community-focused magazines and have branded new and legacy arts organizations like IndigeNash, Nashville Design Week, and the Wedgewood/Houston Arts District. Holley has a mild (read: nearly all-consuming) obsession with tabletop games and hopes one day to design her own—her favorites are Dungeons & Dragons, her own house rules version of Dominoes, and Chinese Mahjong.
