About The Book

A SAFARI INTO DANGER!

There are remote corners of the British Empire where the supernatural lurks and the shadows linger, where few dare go and fewer return.

A TIME FOR HEROES!

This is the world of the little-known Department of Antiquities -- the so-called "Strange Brigade" -- tasked with confronting ancient and terrible evils that threaten us all. But who are these mysterious adventurers?

EIGHT RIP-ROARING NEW ADVENTURES!

Join rising stars Cassandra Khaw, Gaie Sebold, Tauriq Moosa, Guy Adams, Jonathan L. Howard, Mimi Mondal, Patrick Lofgren and Joseph Guthrie as they delve into the hidden origins of some of the Brigade's finest, and marvel at these never-before-seen tales of our fearless and unflinching heroes...

About The Authors

Cassandra Khaw writes many things. Mostly these days, she writes horror and video games and occasional flirtations with chick-lit. Her work can be found in venues like Clarkesworld, Fireside Fiction, Uncanny, Lightspeed, Nightmare, and more. A Song for Quiet was her latest novella from Tor.com, a piece of Lovecraftian Southern Gothic that she worries will confuse those who purchased Bearly a Lady, her frothy paranormal romantic comedy.

Gaie Sebold was born in the US to an American father and English mother, and has lived in the UK most of her life. She now resides in that bit of South East London known as 'not as bad as New Cross.' She began writing shortly after learning to read, and has produced a large number of words, many of them different. She has worked as a cleaner (don't laugh, Mum), secretary, till-monkey, stage-tour-manager and editor, and now works for a charity and runs occasional writing workshops. She is an obsessive reader, enthusiastically inefficient gardener and occasional poet. She has a wonderful boyfriend, a paranoid cat and too much stuff.

Guy Adams lives with genius and writer A.K. Benedict in Rochester, Kent. He’s the author of the Heaven’s Gate trilogy of weird westerns, the Clown Service books and the Deadbeat novels. He’s written countless hours of audio drama for Big Finish, from a wide range of Doctor Who titles to an adaptation of HG Wells’ The Shape of Things to Come and the original horror series Blind Terror: The Gods of Frost. In comics he writes Rogue Trooper, Ulysses Sweet: Maniac for Hire and Max Normal for 2000 AD. With his comics husband, Jimmy Broxton, he is the co-creator of Goldtiger, the sixties newspaper strip that never existed... until now.

Jonathan L. Howard has worked as a scriptwriter and video game writer, including writing credits on the highly successful Broken Sword series of video games. His first novel, Johannes Cabal the Necromancer, was published in 2009.
