Author Revealed

Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. Think the worst and you'll be pleasantly surprised

Q. Which living person do you most admire?

A. Too hard to say – my husband is impressing the hell out of me at the moment as he's designed our new house. Massively respect my dad who became a racing driver against all the odds – and my mum, who had to watch him risk his life while caring for two little kids – so many drivers lost their lives back in those days. And my brother, who's a top menswear designer in Australia and who is so creative and cool - he came up with the titles for some of my books, too. Cheers, bro!

Q. What’s your greatest fear?

A. As a mother, this will always be anything bad happening to my children – my overactive imagination has been known to keep me awake at night!

Q. Who is your favorite fictional hero?

A. Edward. Sigh. Or Jake... Swoon.

Q. If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your days, what would it be?

A. Pasta with tomato, basil, mozzarella and parmesan.

My family and I moved to Cambridge last summer and I love everything about it. Except, that is, the recent deluge of Sunday drivers that seem to have hit the streets. (Apart from the time I didn’t see one, and almost ended up with three points on my licence…Whoops.) But now I try very hard to stick to the speed limit. Unfortunately, this is impossible. Because lately, the people in front of me have been forcing me to drive... see more

I wrote this blog for International Chick-lit Month, May 2013

The book that got me hooked on reading:

The Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton. It was so magical. My brother and I were addicted to the entire series and I think I went on to read everything Enid Blyton ever wrote after that. Loved The Famous Five, too, and also that series about the boy who joins the circus, but I can’t remember what it’s called.

The book that makes me laugh:

No one does heartbreak and hilarity as well as Marian Keyes, but I’m mentioning her later so for this I’ll choose The Little White Car by Danuta De... see more

What’s in a name?

Coming up with titles for books can be a tricky process, but it’s one of the most important things to get right. I thought you might like some insight into how we came up with my titles, starting with my first…

Lucy in the Sky came courtesy of my brother, Kerrin Schuppan, who has always been incredibly creative (he’s head of menswear at super-stylish clothing company Country Road in Australia –www.countryroad.com.au if you’re interested). I was about to... see more
